Welcome To Ashton Pointe

Ashton Pointe is a Johnston neighborhood where families enjoy living and playing. A neighborhood that is welcoming and safe. There are 160 properties in the association. There are 2 common areas within the neighborhood, maintained by the association which benefits all of the property owners. A large common area between Wickham Drive and Enfield Drive is a conservation area with a walking trail and beautiful prairie grass, flowers and wildlife. Another tree lined walking trail with 120 conifer & hardwood trees is at home in the second common area of the neighborhood found on the east side of NW 100th Street between Ashton Drive and NW 68th Avenue.

When our neighborhood was developed, a comprehensive set of By-laws and Covenants were recorded to assure that the neighborhood would maintain an ongoing premier look which would encourage appreciating property values. Pointe Vista is a wonderful new city park. It adjoins the development offering playground equipment for younger children and an expansive open space to run, play and meet up with your neighbors

NW 100TH STREET COMMON AREA

Three of the associations White Pine's along the 100th Street common area, including the one that was in the monument bed, did not survive the winter and were removed.  The tree in the monument bed was replaced with a hardy lilac variety that will provide some additional color every spring.

The health of several of the other pines along in the common area is also in question and the board is working to try and determine what is causing this.  The preliminary speculation is that it is their exposure to the NW wind and the salt spray from the street in the winter.  We are consulting with certified arborists to confirm that and recommend a replacement plan.

In addition to the pines, the board is closely monitoring the Ash Borer situation in the state and receiving updates on a regular basis.  We are also consulting regularly with local arborists, landscaping professionals and the state entomologist as to how to best address this potential threat.

In the next week or two the trimming of the low hanging branches on the ash and crab apples will be complete, and you will see the sucker growth on the crab apples being maintained all season.

We will continue to keep our members apprised of what is happening with this and encourage you to check the association's website for updates.  As always, please contact Cyndy if you have questions or concerns about anything that affects the association.
